Public Internships

Internships at the Institute are 2 days or one week sojourns into the wonderful world of bioacoustics. Interns will participate in behavior monitoring and in recording. You can meet us at the facility every day or stay in a hotel room or bed and breakfast.

Interns will spend each day at the zoo involved in whichever study is underway at the time, up close and personal with exotic animals. In addition to this you will have a two hour per day (1 hour for daily clients) instruction on one of three topics, your choice, Animal Communication, Animal Behavior or Endangered species. North or South Carolina residents see bottom of page for weekly pricing. Weekly internships will be provided with transportation to and from the zoo.  Dependant solely on research schedule.

Requirements:

Must be 19 years or older, have no criminal record, and be capable of handling a decent amount of walking. We have found that most reasonably active older adults have had no problem. If you are handicapped, we can make some accommodations, but not many. This is not discrimination, simply safety, and zoo regulations for your safety. We can accommodate wheelchairs, but most of the time you will not be allowed behind the scenes. This is zoo regulations, but we can often provide you with video of what occurred.

Pricing: (Groups above 3 not allowed)

Two Days: $450.00 per person

Each additional day $200.00 per person

One Week (7 days): $1800.00

If you are a North or South Carolina Resident, close enough to drive to and from the zoo every day, the cost is $1500.00 per week.
